• 4c steel-cut oats
  • 1c toasted almonds
  • 1 c dried fruit
  • 1/2c honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2c brown sugar
  • 4T canola oil
  • 2t cinnamon
  • 1t nutmeg


  1. Mix cinnamon and nutmeg into warm honey (or syrup). Drizzle over oatmeal/nut mixture and coat evenly.
  2. Bake (on a sheet in a thin layer) at 300F for 20-35 minutes, stirring perhaps once.
  3. Add dried fruit and sugar, and allow to cool completely before transferring to storage container / stomach.


Not strictly a by-the-book, in-the-book GOATmeal, but an excellent base granola recipe.

Hint: The original recipe card said “1 c. toasted almonds (or other nut)” Go wild!
